Essay prompt: Given that only a small percentage of people are given the privilege of receiving a higher education at an institution like Carleton, what do you see the ultimate aim of our education here as being? Yes, it might be providing us with the tools we need for a successful job search, but how are we enriching our own lives and the lives of others in a more meaningful way? Should our classes at Carleton explicitly deal with the moral implications of their subject matter (whether texts, artwork, literature, mathematical and scientific knowledge, etc.)?
