Carleton College Leighton Hall, Room 305 Campus Progress has teamed up with MADRE to sponsor the speaking tour "A Window of Hope: Standing with Women in Iraq to End Violence." Since the start of the U.S. occupation of Iraq, Iraqi women have faced multiple forms of violence, including a sharp rise in abductions, rape, and "honor killings." Hear directly from women on the front lines of the struggle to end gender-based violence and create a secular, democratic Iraq free of both U.S. occupation and Islamist coercion. Featuring Yanar Mohammed, Director of the Organization of Women's Freedom in Iraq, and Yifat Susskind, Communications Director of MADRE.
