The Sound of Stalinism: Music and Politics in Cold War Central Europe

In the post-WWII era of radio, public loudspeakers, and communist dictatorships, politicized music surrounded the citizens of Poland and East Germany. What did this music sound like? Why did composers create it? David Tompkins will expand on these themes from his recently-published book Composing the Party Line: Music and Politics in Early Cold War Poland and East Germany.

Cost:  $10 includes lunch. To make your reservation, click here. All reservations need to be made and paid in advance by Friday November 1.
