Geological Hike
Saturday, May 1, 2010, 1 p.m.
Join Carleton alums, parents and families, as well as Mary-Russell Roberson ’86, and her co-author Kevin Stewart, for a geological hike of the highest point in Orange County—Occoneechee Mountain in Hillsborough. Wear hiking shoes and bring a water bottle. This two-mile hike is occasionally steep but not too strenuous. Kids and dogs are welcome!
We’ll meet in the parking lot at 1 p.m. and probably finish up around 3:30.
Roberson and Stewart are authors of Exploring the Geology of the Carolinas: A Field Guide to Favorite Places from Chimney Rock to Charleston. We’ll have a limited number of books for sale with us.
Due to the occasionally unpredictable North Carolina weather, please RSVP with club co-chair Bengt Pederson '94.
Directions: To get there, take exit 164 off I-85 near Hillsborough. Turn north onto Churton Street, and then take a quick left onto Mayo Street. Turn left onto Orange Grove Road, and then right onto Virginia Cates road; follow the signs to the parking area.
