Pearl Lam Bergad ’66 will present a talk on her experience commissioning a western-style grand opera based on the famous Chinese novel, Dream of the Red Chamber. The San Francisco Opera became interested in the project five years ago, assembled the artistic team, and presented the world premiere last September in its own War Memorial Opera House. Last month the Company traveled to Hong Kong to present the Asian premiere and is now on its way to China this coming fall.
