Join Lauren and Nancy Soth for this exciting Carleton event. Professor Soth’s discussion will highlight the Ashcan Artists exhibition at the Detroit Institute of Art. The exhibition features 80 paintings depicting vibrant and diverse activities as experienced by American artists known collectively as the Ashcan School. Following the lecture Professor Soth will be available to continue his discussion and answer questions in the exhibition. All Carleton alumni, family members and friends are invited to attend.

Professor Soth earned his Ph.D. from New York University and taught art history at Carleton 1964-2004. In his 40 years at Carleton, Professor Soth taught 40 different courses including several on American art. His lectures receive rave reviews from Carls around the country and even a few in Northfield.

Cost: $20 per person

Details: The lecture starts at 1:30 pm in the Scarab Club (217 Farnsworth, Detroit), behind the Detroit Institute of Art. Following the lecture, the group will walk to the DIA to visit the exhibition. Professor Soth will be available for questions and comments.
