SECOND THURSDAY BREAKFAST

with DAVID KELLIHER '86

"Minnesota's State Government Shutdown of 2011:
A View from Inside and Outside of the Capitol"

Thursday, September 8, 2011, 7:30-8:30 a.m.

Perkins Restaurant
4201 W. 78th Street (near I-494 & France Avenue), Bloomington

David Kelliher '86 is the Director of Public Policy and Community Relations at the Minnesota Historical Society. In that position, David advocates for budget and policy proposals for the MHS as well as the broader history and historic preservation community. While every legislative session takes on a life of its own, Minnesota faced unprecedented budget deficits and new players in both the legislative and executive branches this year. David will recount how we got to this point in our state’s budget, from his perspective, and how these trends played out on the Capitol stage this year, resulting in an unprecedented 20-day state government shutdown.

Treat yourself to a great program and a tasty and inexpensive breakfast. Reservations are not necessary. Suggestions for speakers are always welcome. Contact Breakfast Series Coordinator Bob Carlson '68 with your ideas.
