Art as Data/Museum as Lab/Collecting as Inquiry

As a "teaching museum,” Carleton’s Perlman Museum emphasizes the important role that art plays in posing questions about life. Works of art give aesthetic forms to ideas, spark conversations between and across disciplines, and focus challenging critical dialogues. The Perlman is a dynamic academic resource that fosters curatorial study, promotes public engagement, and builds community through unique collaborative projects.

Jeff Rathermel, the Mary Hulings Rice Director and Curator of the Perlman Teaching Museum, provides insights into the operation of the museum, its philosophical underpinnings, and the importance of using—not simply archiving—a fine art collection.

No RSVP necessary to attend! And save the date for the March Breakfast Club on March 14th.
