Starting with her comps paper "Business Ethics: a Contradiction in Terms?", philosophy major Susan Hammel ’86 began a journey to change the world by harnessing the power of the capital markets for good, including what it means to invest for social change. In this introduction to impact investing, she will challenge the traditional beliefs of finance vs. philanthropy and ultimately answer the question of whether you can do well and do good. Susan will share real life examples from her decades of investment and philanthropic experience to make an evidence based case for impact investing as well as provide proven strategies. As Founder of Cogent Consulting, Susan is serving as Executive in Residence for the Minnesota Council on Foundations and leading the charge to map the Twin Cities Impact Investing Ecosystem. With support from the Bush Foundation and Otto Bremer Trust, she is in a unique position to see the many strands converge into a powerful whole positioning our region as a center for innovation and progressive capitalism.

No RSVP necessary to attend! And save the date for the May Breakfast Club on May 10th.
