Carleton Business Book Club Meeting
The Carleton Business Book Club Friday, December 2, 2011 Panera at Sherman & Church Streets, Evanston Business Lessons from Rock and Roll The Grateful Dead is one of the most successful bands in rock and roll history. They carry the image of a group fueled by the drug culture and organized around “Flower Power.” In reality, they are an astute business organization whose secret lies in delivering superior customer value, implementing flat management, and giving away product to increase demand for their concerts and records. In other words, they unwittingly anticipated the Internet and viral marketing and executed those concepts skillfully. Author (and Deadhead) Barry Barnes explores the Dead’s talent for “strategic improvisation” in extracting lessons for today’s businesses. Join the Carleton Business Book Club at its December meeting to discover what the “long, strange trip” can teach us. |
