Lift It Up! Black America in Song
With the Seattle Women’s Chorus
Sunday, April 22, 2007, 2 p.m.
Meany Hall, University of Washington, Seattle
Join us and several singing alumni (Tonya Hennen ’93 and Laura Hopper ’99) for an uplifting afternoon of music with the Seattle Women’s Chorus! Featuring Dr. Bernice Johnson Reagon, composer and founding singer of Sweet Honey in the Rock, this show includes a repertoire of soul and spirituals in this celebration of life and music. Resounding rhythms, rich harmonies, stirring lyrics and soaring melodies interweave in this testimony to freedom and justice that will rock the rafters and lift you out of your seat!
Tickets are $25 and available directly through the box office through April 13th. Call the chorus office at 388-1400 and mention “Carleton College” to receive our group rate and be seated in our group area of the balcony. We’ll meet up in the upper mezzanine for a small reception at intermission. More info at www.seattlewomenschorus.com.
