invites you to a
Carleton Author Reading
Sunday, September 13, 2009, 5 to 7 p.m.
(5 p.m.—potluck dinner; 6 p.m.—reading)
at the home of Ann Johns ’59
Join the San Diego Carleton Club for a potluck dinner and an author reading with Carleton alumna Debra Grubb Austin ’79. Debra will read a chapter from her first novel, Daughter of Kura, which will be published by Simon & Schuster in August. It is a coming-of-age story set in Africa a half-million years ago (the characters are Homo erectus). Our discussion may touch on the evolution of religious beliefs, human evolution in general, and mid-life career changes (Debra used to be an obstetrician).
For more information, reviews, and where to buy the book, go to http://debraaustinbooks.com. Please bring a dinner item to share. Beverages and paper goods will be provided. Questions, or to R.S.V.P. by September 3, contact Suzanne Bacon ’96.
