Del Mar, CA

Please join local alumni for an evening with Carleton Professor and Economist Nathan D. Grawe.  Nathan will talk about intergenerational mobility (the strength of connection between parent and child labor market outcomes like education, income, and welfare receipt):  how the US compares to other countries, potential explanations for the parent-child connection, the role education finance both in K-12 and higher education affect mobility, and how the current downturn might alter the parent-child connection.

Nathan, who has just completed a term as Associate Dean of the College, has taught courses on economics of inequality, industrial organization, and econometrics.  Much of Nathan's published research examines the effect of family background on later child achievement.  He has published several articles examining the correlation between parent and child income.

RSVP by December 29 to Ellen Cha ’96.  When you make your reservation, please indicate whether you will bring a light appetizer, dessert or drink(s) to share.
