Terra Cotta Warriors

Saturday, July 19, 2008

The Bowers Museum in Santa Ana presents the U.S. premiere of the largest number of warriors and national treasures to ever leave China! We will have an 11 a.m. tour on Saturday, July 19, followed by lunch at the home of Susan Palmer Vescera ‘67 and Larry Vescera in Newport Beach. The tickets cost $22 for adults and $16 for seniors (over 62) and college students with ID. The lunch will be $10.

We are sending out the announcement this far in advance because we have to buy the tickets now. We also have a chance to get more tickets at this point in time, but they probably won’t be available by summer. If you buy tickets now and find that you cannot attend, we will probably be able to transfer the ticket to another person and refund your money. Please contact Margie Templeton '63 and make your reservations as soon as you can, because we may not be able to accommodate everyone. Preference will be given to alumni or students with a single guest, but we may be able to accommodate more guests.

The Bowers Museum is located at 2002 North Main St. in Santa Ana. For more details see www.bowers.org. Our admission will allow us to stay to look at their other exhibits. We will meet near the entrance at 10:45 a.m. We will each have an audio tour device, so we will move at our own pace. It should take about an hour. You can arrive at the Vescera’s any time after 12:15 p.m. The Vesceras live right on the Upper Newport Bay Ecological Preserve. After lunch, those who would like to walk along the bay are welcome to stay.

Directions: Take Main Street south from the 5 freeway. The museum is just off the freeway on the corner of 20th and Main. Public parking is available directly north of the museum. Nearby metered and free timed street parking is also available. The Vesceras live at 2026 Avenida Chico in Newport Beach. We will supply maps from the museum to their house.
