Matthew McCright, Senior Lecturer in Piano, will give the first performance of As Far As You Can Stretch a Web, a work supported by a 2019 Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grant and composed by Andrea Mazzariello, Assistant Professor of Music. McCright will also perform Mazzariello’s Flight School from his latest album, What Is Left Behind, and Mazzariello will offer the premiere of his own Untitled. Mazzariello and McCright will be joined by the pianist Michael Mizrahi.

McCright has performed extensively throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, and the South Pacific as piano soloist and chamber musician. His affinity for contemporary music has led to dozens of collaborations, grants, and premieres.

Mazzariello is a composer, performer, writer, and teacher whose compositions have been performed at a wide variety of venues. He directs the composition program at the Sō Percussion Summer Institute and published his first book, One More Revolution, in 2018.

Mizrahi has won acclaim for his compelling performances of a wide-ranging repertoire and his ability to connect with audiences of all ages. He has appeared as concerto soloist, recitalist, chamber musician, and teaching artist across the United States and abroad.

Lowertown Listening Sessions invite curious listeners to enjoy adventurous sounds and insightful conversation with the music-makers of our time.
