Special Author Event!

Panera in Evanston (Church and Sherman)

Dear Chicago-area alums:

As we enter our 2nd year of the Chicago Business Book Club, it is our pleasure to have Jeff Appelquist '80, author of our summer reading selection, join us.  Jeff will facilitate a discussion on his book "Sacred Ground: Leadership Lessons from Gettysburg & The Little Bighorn."  Jeff is a former Marine Corps infantry officer, practicing attorney, and corporate executive.  He has nearly twenty years experience both as an entrepreneur and small business owner and as a leader in Fortune 100 companies.   Business leaders and historians have benefited from his leadership seminars at the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management and on-site in Getysburg, Pennsylvania and at the Little Bighorn in Montana.  The Carlson School of Management described Jeff's work:

As leaders, we have all faced moments of truth throughout our professional careers.  Important decisions directly impacting the success or failure of our teams and organizations have sometimes rested in our hands.  Is it possible that we could actually learn from historical examples how to make better decisions?  Is it possible to use lessons from history to improve in other dimensions of our leadership as well?  The answer is a resounding yes.

Whether or not you picked up Jeff's book, please join us for this special event!

Regards,

Adam
