Explore the Eastern Glades of Memorial Park, Houston

Stroll through the newest park space of Houston, where you will experience the beauty of pine forests, wetlands surrounding a 5-acre lake, wetlands bound by a geologic fault line, restored savanna habitats, and much more. This virtual tour will bring you full circle in the Eastern Glades of Memorial Park from the historic entrance to Camp Logan through the food truck court and down the wetlands boardwalk, where you will see unique birds resident to the lake, and back through the picnic areas.

Carolyn White '84 joined Memorial Park Conservancy in 2017 after 11 years with the Harris County Flood Control District’s Environmental Services. She brings more than 25 years of experience delivering environmental and ecological restoration projects as a planner and practitioner. Her work in environmental consulting, local government, and collaboration with multiple non-profit organizations over the years provides her with unique expertise to bring the Memorial Park Master Plan to life. Her approach to conservation spans all aspects of park management from planning and research to development and capital improvement through operations, maintenance, monitoring, and outreach. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geology from Carleton and a Masters of Landscape Architecture degree from University of California – Berkeley. Carolyn currently serves on the Bayou Preservation Association Council of Advisors, White Oak Bayou Association Board, Houston Area Urban Forestry Council Board, and represents the Conservancy on the Coalition for Environment, Equity, and Resilience.
