Soubresaut

Soubresaut takes off from and lands on two feet. When you are in the air, you are working to show sous-sus. This jump travels in all directions.

  • To perform soubresaut en avant (forward) begin in 5th position with the right leg front. Plié and jump up and forward as the back leg pushes you up and forward to sous-sus en l’air. The jump lands in 5th position.
  • To perform soubresaut de côté (sideward) begin in 5th position with the right leg front. Plié and jump up and sideward as the back leg pushes you up and sideward to the right to sous-sus en l’air. The jump lands in 5th position.
  • To perform soubresaut en arrière (backward) begin in 5th position with the right leg front. Plié and jump up and backward as the front leg pushes you up and backward to sous-sus en l’air. The jump lands in 5th position.

It is important to use your demi-plié at the beginning and ending of all jumps, and to maintain a long lengthened torso. It is also important to avoid leaning forward or backward when jumping as it can stress the body and makes jumping difficult.
