Emboîté Sauté with Half-Turn

Emboîté was first studied and performed in 6th position, and later studied attitude devant and attitude derrière.

Emboîté sauté is a spotted jump. Look in the direction that you are traveling.

The port de bras for emboîté sauté move across the body from 3rd low to 3rd low. The foot that is in cou-de-pied devant relates to the port de bras in 1st position.

To perform emboîté sauté with a ½ turn:

  • Begin in 5th position with the right leg front, demi-plié and sauté as you perform a ½ turn en l’air (to the right), while bringing the back foot (left) to cou-de-pied devant.
  • Then sauté off of the right foot while you perform a ½ turn en l’air (to the right), while bringing the under foot (right) to cou-de-pied devant.

It is important to use your demi-plié at the beginning and ending of all jumps, and to maintain a long lengthened torso. It is also important to avoid leaning forward or backward when jumping as it can stress the body and makes jumping difficult.
