This page is home to our Frequently Asked Questions, where you can find information on all sorts of things, from useful info about using Moodle and Google Docs to how to give someone access to course materials.  If you have any questions you would like to see us add answers to, please email us.

Since we have many questions answered here, we recommend that you either search by entering a keyword or by choosing a category. You may choose to add a focus (second category) to narrow your search.

Moodle 2.8 has some really exciting improvements to a number of important areas, here are some of the highlights:

  • Gradebook has been overhauled and simplified
    • New “Natural” aggregation method makes configuring gradebook simpler -- arriving late summer
    • Copy/paste grades from your spreadsheet programs into gradebook
    • Full-width view makes better use of screen space
    • Column and row headers stay on screen as you scroll
    • Single view for entering grades for a single assignment or a single student
  • Quiz editing also simplified
    • Drag-n-drop question re-ordering
    • Easier pagination tools
  • New text editor
    • Includes new Mathjax math editor
    • Autosaves text every minute
  • New Assignment features
    • Set a word limit to online text assignments
    • Attach files to assignment description
  • Improved Access Restriction interface
    • Add or remove restrictions more cleanly

Where can I learn about Moodle 2.8?

The newly revamped Academic Technology website has a Moodle presence in the Tools & Services area with links to the Top 10 Skills Every Faculty Should Know, the Top 10 Moodle Questions and the Moodle FAQ.  Academic Technology will also be hosting a schedule of Moodle workshops to help you get a jumpstart on your fall term course sites.  Finally, you can also schedule an appointment with an Academic Technology Student Assistant who is trained in using Moodle and will be happy to answer your questions.
