Thom Pain: Based on Nothing
November 18, 2008 at 1:51 pmIn one of their most unusual presentations this term, the ETB put on a show that consists of one man on stage “working himself up into a dumbass frenzy,” as he puts it, for a bit over an hour. There is no plot to Thom Pain. Thom’s thoughts wander all over the universe, pretty much at random.

Townhouses Door Decs
November 17, 2008 at 1:32 pmThis year, the townhouses RA’s have come up with an original way to decorate the doors of their miniature village on the west end of campus. Each door sign, besides containing the names of the residents inside, has a segment from an original Choose Your Own Adventure story. (You all grew up in the 90s – I sure hope you loved these books as much as I did.) At the bottom of each segment, there is a choice of directions the flow of the story could take. To take the choice, you must travel to one of the other doors in the townhouses.
Election Day at Carleton
November 10, 2008 at 1:16 pmElection Day is a major event on Carleton campus. All day, Carleton students (and faculty and staff) proudly displayed their "I Voted" stickers while campus was crusted with chalkings and posters. The Carl Dems manned tables in Sayles calling Northfield residents and helping people get to the polling places. Then, once the polls closed at 8:00, people were glued to the many television screens around campus, including a giant one in Sayles. Jubilation erupted when Barack Obama was announced the winner.

Getting Out the Vote, Insomniac Style
November 7, 2008 at 4:19 pmMonday of eighth week is a time when most Carleton students are glued to their desk chairs or couches in the libe, feverishly working on the infamous end-of-term flood of projects. Nevertheless, many students found a way to procrastinate and be productive at once, heading over to Sayles at midnight to work with the CarlDems to get out the vote for Obama. It's Midnight Madness!
Iron Chef: Sweet Potato Showdown
November 7, 2008 at 3:30 pmAt Culinary House this past weekend, two teams of chefs assembled on Saturday evening to do battle. They came ready with cooking equipment to use and recipes to modify. They were given an hour and a half and access to Culinary House's food and seasoning supplies, and told to make an appetizer, a meat dish, and a dessert.
What did they cook? Who won the competition? Who will help them eat the bread? Read on.
Halloween
November 7, 2008 at 2:11 pmAs usual, Carleton students got highly creative with their costumes:

The Living
October 31, 2008 at 12:55 pmThe Carleton Players have made an excellent performance of Anthony Clarvoe’s play The Living last weekend, deserving of such adjectives as deep, austere, and powerful.
Henna Party
October 28, 2008 at 2:49 pmWhat’s the best way to spend your free time on midterm break? Decorate yourself with henna, of course! The Office of Intercultural Life managed to obtain several tubes of hard-to-find henna paste, so they set up shop in Nourse Lounge and had a henna party.
