Loving Life in Sevilla

Sevilla, Spain is in the capital city of the autonomous Spanish state of Andalucia. It is picturesquely situated on the Guadalquivir river. Sevilla was originally the Roman city of Hispalis, and was subsequently conquered by Muslims who continued to rule from 712 until 1248 when Ferdinand III and the Castillian kingdom conquered the region. During the late 1400s and early 1500s, Sevilla was the center of Spain's culture and economy, serving as the main port to the Americas and the rest of the world. It was from here that famous explorers such as Christopher Columbus and Ferdinand Magellan departed to explore uncharted territory for their country. Since then, the city also endured the Spanish Civil War and many other changes to date. Sevilla is approximately 2,200 years old, and its many civilisations have been critical in cultivating the shape and identity of the city. It has history around every corner, and we will likely only scratch the surface of it all during our time in Spain.
