Carleton hosts community open house for new addition to its Weitz Center for Creativity

September 8, 2017

Carleton College invites the public to attend a community open house on Sunday, Sept. 17 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Weitz Center for Creativity. The event will give community members the opportunity to see the recently completed music and performance hall. Light refreshments will also be served.

The new addition to the Weitz Center for Creativity will house the majority of Carleton’s music program and also created a new performance space of high acoustic quality to replace the College’s existing Concert Hall. These new facilities support a broad range of curricular and co-curricular music and performances needs and further integrate creativity across the disciplines with rehearsal spaces, a music resource library, and teaching studios.

“The Weitz Center is a unique and beautiful facility,” says Joe Hargis, associate vice president for external relations. “It not only supports our educational mission; it is a community asset. Since its opening in 2011, community members have taken full advantage of the many free public events at the Weitz Center. The new music and performance space will provide even more opportunities for our friends and neighbors to enjoy the rich array of programming and performances we offer.”
