As part of Sodexho's 2008 Global Chef Program, South African Chef Johann Becker will visit Carleton April 7 and 8.Becker will present a special four-course meal at the Alumni Guest House today and tomorrow Carleton students will be treated to a selection of South African cuisine during lunch in Dining East LDC, including traditional Mieliepap and Chakalaka dishes.
Chef Becker began his career in the Catering Corps of the South African Defense Force. Trained in Foodservice Management at Vaal University of Technology, he is a member of the South African Chef's Association, the Sodexo SA Chef's Committee, and has worked for top catering companies and television productions such as "Big Brother Africa" and "South African Idols." A training officer for Sodexo South Africa, Becker has been named "Chef of the Year" by Sodexho SA.
