Carleton Students Host Dance Showcase With Stuart Pimsler Dance and Theater Company

The Carleton College Department of Theater and Dance will present a special Winter Dance Showcase on Wednesday, Feb. 29 at 7:30 p.m. in the Weitz Center for Creativity Studio. Featuring guest artist Heather Klopchin and members of the acclaimed Stuart Pimsler Dance and Theater Company along with 35 Carleton students, this event is free and open to the public.

The showcase will include Klopchin’s driving and exciting piece of choreography, “Gridlock,” as well as performances by Carleton senior Chelsea Lau (Hastings, Neb.) and first-year student Kelly Banker (Harvard, Mass.). The evening will culminate with performances through the Weitz Center for Creativity by members of the “Performing Politics” class, led by Stuart Pimsler and company members who have been in residence at Carleton this winter term.

The Stuart Pimsler Dance & Theater (SPDT) is a nationally recognized performance company that has been presented by The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Dance Theater Workshop (NYC), Jacob's Pillow, The American Dance Festival, and internationally in Canada, Europe, Israel, Taiwan and Russia.
