After dinner on Friday, Betty (Lindsey) Geilen ’64 and Brett Smith ’64 will lead us through songs from our time at Carleton and other favorites. We are looking forward to group singing/playing designed to get maximum class participation.
Singing along with a few of these songs on Youtube.com will get your tonsils ready for the Sing-Along after dinner Friday night. Songs will include Tom Dooley, Sloop John B, Edelweiss, O What a Beautiful Morning, Moon River, Home on the Range, Goodnight Irene, Will the Circle Be Unbroken, Yellow Submarine, When I'm '64, The Riddle Song (I Gave My Love a Cherry), Drunken Sailor, Blowing in the Wind, Where Have All the Flowers Gone, If I Had a Hammer, When I'm Gone, This Land is Your Land, and Happy Trails to You. Men, especially note Drunken Sailor (try the Clancy Bros. and Tommy Maken version; we'll do it slightly slower!); Women, note The Riddle Song (try the Nico Nyco version (missing a verse) or Doc Watson; the Baez/Seeger version is a bit slow... If this is too high for most, we will lower it). All in preparation for a possible "Battle of the Sexes" when the women get to listen to the men and vice versa.
