So here's what we talked about tonight:

  1. Poetry Weekend - Will be held Friday and Saturday of 9th weekend (nov. 12th
and 13th). The poet from the Cities will perform on Friday night from 6:30-8 in
the Great Space, and the workshop will be held Saturday afternoon, with the
Open Mic at the Cave that night.
  2. Foozball Tournament - We've already gotten some donations from local
businesses and are working on getting more. Just a reminder, this will be held
on October 17th (Sunday of midterm break) and is a fundraiser for the White
Privilege Conference in the spring. Registration starts next Wednesday and
we'll be tabling in Sayles from 11-1 MWF and 12-1 Tues/Thurs up until the
tournament. Let us know if you can help with tabling!
  3. Thursday night (TOMORROW), 8-9, OIIL Lounge - Be there! I'm a STA
(sustainability assistant) and will be leading a discussion about
sustainability at Carleton and how you can get involved. Stop by or stay the
whole time - there will be snacks! (OIIL Lounge is in the basement of
Scoville). Tell your friends and spread the word!
  4. PR Rep - Is Robin!
  5. Freshmen Rep - Is no one so far, so we've extended the deadline until Sunday
night (and possibly longer). Freshmen - please consider applying! We'll give
you lots of support and you'll be able to gain valuable experience representing your class!
  6. Recruitment - We're really trying to attract new members, especially
freshmen, so here are some ideas we discussed: talking one-on-one with people
about joining BSA, advertising through the NNB and all-campus e-mail,
    distributing flyers, and tabling.
  7. 6th Weekend Event - We may be trying to organize an event on the Friday
night of 6th weekend, to some fun place in the Cities. Stay tuned for details!
  8. Sunday Dinner - Will be the Sunday night of 6th weekend! Contact Brittney
    Mikell about making a dish!

We didn't get around to the planned discussion topic, so next Wednesday we'll
be discussing Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). It will
also be Bring a Friend night, so hope to see you all (+ your friends) there!
