Knights Grab Third at North Regional Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Carleton College synchronized swimming team recorded a third-place finish at the North Regional Championships. The Knights have now finished among the top three teams at the regional championships five consecutive years and six times overall since Carleton first competed at the regional championships in 1999-2000.

Host institution, Ohio State University, swept all four events to capture its 19th regional title. The Buckeyes finished with 103 points while Lindenwood Univeristy placed second, scoring 82 points, while Carleton rounded out the Top 3 with a score of 68. (Results below)

Charlotte Alster (Fy./ Tucson, Ariz./Catalina Foothills) placed fifth in the solo competition.

Dara Strauss-Albee (Sr./Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) and Stephanie Moberg (Jr./Scottsdale, Ariz./North Canyon) finished sixth in the duets then teamed with Alster for another sixth-place showing in the trio competition.

In the team routine, Strauss-Albee, Alster, Moberg, Hannah Nitecki (Fy./Rushford, Minn./Rushford-Peterson), and Liza Styles (Sr./Amherst, Mass./Pioneer Valley Performing Arts) posted a score of 75.917, good for seventh place.

Carleton entered a honor group in the team competition as well, and first-years Kate Cohen (Oakland, Calif./Lick Wilmerding), Jixiu (Evelyn) Li (Shenyang, China/Northeast Yucai), Lizzie Murphy (Honolulu, Hawaii/Iolani), Libby Nachman (Overland Park, Kans./Shawnee Mission East), and Katie Storey (Havertown, Pa./Haverford Township) scored ninth at 69.417.

The final event on the synchronized swimming schedule is the 33rd annual U.S. Collegiate Synchronized Swimming Championships on March 26-28 in San Antonio, Texas.
