Carleton’s Symphony Band, directed by Ronald Rodman, will present its winter performance in the College’s Concert Hall on Friday, Feb. 24 at 8 p.m. The concert will feature the premiere of a work by Carleton alumnus Sarah Hersh, Class of 2006, as well as works by Grainger, Part, Shostakovitch, and other compositions for woodwind and brass ensembles. This performance is free and open to the public.

Sarah Hersh composes primarily acoustic new music, and enjoys writing for nontraditional ensembles. Her pieces have been performed by Duo46, the Out of Bounds Ensemble, and numerous other groups. She is a co-founder and contributing author of “Alphabet Soup,” a blog about new music, and is the business director of the newly formed, Atlanta-based new music group Terminus Ensemble.
