NORTHFIELD, Minn. – William Lanzillo (Jr./Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West) gave the Knights the early lead and later added as assist to propel the Carleton College men’s soccer team to a convincing 4-0 victory over visiting Crown College.

Carleton has outscored its opponents by an 8-0 margin over the opening four matches of the season.

In the 10th minute, Lanzillo collected an attempted clearance from a defender and slotted home a shot beyond the outstretched arms of goalkeeper Eli Etzel and inside the left post. Trevor Freeland (Jr./DeKalb, Ill./DeKalb) doubled the lead in the 21st minute when he scored his fourth goal in as many games off a feed from Spencer Weeden (So./Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton).

Kohl Sparrman (Jr./Apple Valley, Minn./Rosemount) added an insurance tally in the 33rd minute, ripping a shot off the underside of the crossbar. Adam Pearson (Jr./Rockford, Ill./Rockford Lutheran) concluded the scoring in the 53rd minute, heading home a corner kick by Lanzillo.

A quartet of goalies saw action for Carleton, combining on the Knights’ fourth consecutive clean sheet to open the campaign.

The Knights will be back in action on Saturday as they host Simpson College for a 3:30 p.m. tile. Live video and stats will be available via Knights Online.
