ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Carleton College men’s soccer team absorbed another tough loss on the road, this time against Macalester College as the Knights fell, 2-1, in overtime. This was the seventh time in the last nine meetings that these teams were separated by one goal or less.

After a scoreless opening period, the Knights’ Tashi Tsering (Jr./Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater) finally got the scoring started in the 75th minute when he converted a free kick from just outside the penalty area. It was his first career goal.

The Carleton (5-3-0, 1-2-0 MIAC) lead was short-lived, however, as the Scots (5-2-1, 2-0-0 MIAC) notched the equalizer three minutes later. Neither side could break the deadlock before the end of regulation, and in the 94th minute, Macalester midfielder Zach Moore’s long-range shot found the left side of the net.

All three Carleton losses this year have come in one-goal affairs, with two of those being overtime results.

After opening the season with five victories in six tries, the Knights have dropped back-to-back one-goal decisions away from home. Carleton will look to re-gain its form on Tuesday, Sept. 26 with a 4 p.m. get together against Northwestern-St. Paul at Bell Field. Knights Online will provide live video and stats coverage of that contest.
