DECORAH, Iowa -- Playing their second game in as many days, the Carleton College men’s soccer team dropped an away result 2-0 to Luther College in a non-conference matchup on Sunday evening.

Luther (6-3-1) out-shot Carleton (6-5-0) by a slight 10-7 margin on the evening, but the Knights defense limited the Norse to only two shots over the final half. Carleton was unable to take advantage of its 4-2 edge in corner kicks.

Carleton goalkeeper Aidan Mullan (Sr./Iowa City, Iowa/Regina) dove to his left to save a Ben Keller shot in the fourth minute, then smothered a loose ball in the box minutes later to keep the Knights in it early.

Luther midfielder Rafael Broseghini broke the scoreless tie in the 23rd minute with a laser off the post, notching the first goal that Mullan has conceded all season.

While Carleton had more shots than the Norse during the second half, it was Joshua Donkor who added to Luther’s advantage with his 70th minute score.

Carleton returns to MIAC play on Saturday, Oct. 7 and will face fierce opposition when the Knights visit No. 10-ranked University of St. Thomas.
