NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Trevor Freeland (Jr./DeKalb, Ill./DeKalb) scored for the second consecutive day and Spencer Weeden (So./Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton) added his first collegiate goal as the Carleton College men’s soccer team dispatched Nebraska Wesleyan by a 2-0 tally on Saturday evening.

The Knights (2-0-0) out-shot the Prairie Wolves (0-2-0) by a 12-3 margin as Brandon Hilliard (Sr./Anoka, Minn./Totino Grace) needed to make two saves in recording his second straight clean sheet.

Freeland scored the game winner in the 16th minute by working a give and go combination with Nicolas Graese (Jr./Verona, Wis./Verona) at the top of the 18-yard box. That opened up Freeland for an uncontested shot from the penalty spot, a blast that he slid into the lower left portion of the net.

Weeden’s insurance tally came in the 84th minute. William Lanzillo (Jr./Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West) collected the ball at the top of the 18 and slid a pass to Alvin Bierley (Fy./Santa Cruz, Calif./Leland), who was making an overlapping run. Bierley then one-timed a pass across the six-yard box which Weeden collected and calmly tapped home.

The Knights travel to North Central (Ill.) College on Wednesday, Sept. 6 for a 7:30 p.m. showdown.
