The Battle of Northfield

October 4, 2009
By BLAM

This weekend saw the clash of cross-town rivals, St. Olaf and Carleton of the pitch behind the Rec.  Both teams played with intensity, each looking to exploit the holes in the other team's line.  St. Olaf found the first of these openings exploited it. Unfortunately for the Oaks, St. Olaf was able to keep finding these holes, while scarcely presenting any for Carleton to take advantage.  There were some bright spots such as rookie Jon Raberg's first try.  Despite such efforts however, Carleton's defenses were overwhelmed during the second half.  Still, this match was one of Carleton's better showings against its cross-town rival in recent years.  It was through the Oaks dogged persistence, that the gap in scores was prevented from growing too large.
