Practice and Tradition

This last week was a bye week for Carleton which in addition to providing a well-needed rest, but was also instructive.   The team worked to tighten its form this past week in such aspects as tackles, rucks, and maintaining its defensive line, in addition to conditioning.  The week also saw the introduction of the rookies into more of the club’s traditions, and provided a chance for them to learn more about rugby culture.  The week was capped with a trip to the Twin Cities to watch the University of Minnesota (UM) take on the University of Wisconsin (UW) at the new Gopher Stadium.  The game proved to be exciting with both teams exchanging blows, ultimately UW proved to be triumphant with a score of 19-15 over UM after a lucky tackle in the last few minutes of the game that prevented UM from making the game winning try.
