Professor James McDonnell shared family and local histories with the students around County Mayo, where one of his cousins, Jimmy McGing, was our intrepid busdriver. Jimmy and his wife invited us to their home, where another cousin, John McGing, hand-sheared a sheep for us, and Jimmy's wife Teresa fed us home-made treacle bread and treats, while Jimmy's son Thomas taught the students how to play Gaelic Football and his grandchildren bounced on the trampoline.
