Racism as Subjectification
From site: Wellstone House of Organization and Activism
This summer, as part of Carleton's Class of '63 Fellowship, David Schraub '08 researched a concept called "subjectification" as an aspect of modern-day racism. Subjectification is when someone who has been accorded full status as a moral subject is still seen or treated as if they are instrumentally worthless, not "necessary" to the functioning of society or an institution. This presentation is both a summary of his findings, as well as an opportunity for contribution from the Carleton community.
