BSA Minutes 2/23/11

Hello BSA!
Here's what we talked about tonight:

  1. You've  already gotten flyers for We Speak via e-mail and I'm about to send them out again - everyone's goal should be to hang at least 10 around campus!)
  2. T-shirts - If you ordered one, you can pick it up from Robert and pay him $11. If you didn't, you can still buy one for $14.
  3. Crepes and t-shirts will be sold in Sayles tomorrow (12-1:30) and Friday (1-4). Hip-hop music will also be featured at our table tomorrow, so be sure to stop by!
  4. Black Masculinities - This will be the topic of discussion tomorrow (Thursday) from 5-6 at Stimson. Subway will be provided as well.
    • FOR PERFORMERS - Rehearsal tomorrow from 8-10:30 PM! (You don't have to stay the whole time). We have the Concert Hall reserved all day Friday if you want to practice but mics will not be set up that day until around 3 or 4. You can also stick around tomorrow night after 10:30 for more practice time.
  5. We Speak - FRIDAY AT 8, CONCERT HALL!!! Be sure to come and bring your friends. Northfield News will also be doing a story on it, so if you're there a little early, you may get interviewed. Also, if you'd be willing to help carry speakers from PEPS to the Concert Hall, let JP know!
  6. Black History Month Chapel Service - Sunday at 5. Denise Dunbar Perkins is coming down from the Cities to preach, and she made her sermon about the theme we chose - perseverance. Plus a performance by the Jubilee Singers!
    • IF YOU'D LIKE TO ATTEND - E-mail a board member by this MONDAY (the 28th). We'll then ask you for a 150-200 word response on why you'd like to go, and for everyone who replies, we'll do a lottery pick.
  7. White Privilege Conference - Is April 14th-16th (Th-Sat) in the Cities. (That is 2nd week of spring term). We'll be sending 2 freshmen, 3 sophomores, 3 juniors, and 2 seniors. The times are 8:30-10 am each of those mornings, so travel time included, about 7-noon.
  8. OVA YONDER - Is the name of Zac's band. They'll be performing at We Speak and later that night at The Cave at 10:20. So be sure to check them out!

Happy Spirit Week!
