Along with languages classes, Stephanie Cox teaches literary and cultural studies on Francophone North America, including Quebec, Acadia, Louisiana. She has also designed a course of French Civilization focusing on France's relationship with its "banlieues" and to discuss the issues and cultural products of this negociated urban space as well as its important impact on modern French culture and society. Recently, she has brought the focus of the course on comparing immigration issues between France and Quebec. She writes on Ying Chen, an Asian Canadian writer and others, like Linda Lê, Ook Chung, Marie-Thérèse Humbert, Marjane Satrapi, Nicolas Dickner who write from the border zones. She is currently working on a book on Ying Chen's works.
