WINONA, Minn. – Jordy Cammarota (Sr./Neenah, Wis./Neenah) and Branden McGarrity (Jr./Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) featured heavily, with Cammarota scoring two goals and McGarrity notching a goal and two assists as the Carleton College men’s soccer team defeated Saint Mary’s University, 3-0.
Carleton (3-4, 1-1 MIAC) outshot the Cardinals by a 23-7 margin. Saint Mary’s (2-3-1, 0-2 MIAC) was limited by the Knights backline, with just two shots on-target over the 90 minutes.
The game-winner came in the 58th minute, with Cammarota scoring from a McGarrity assist. This formula was repeated in the 72nd minute, but not before McGarrity slotted home an unassisted goal of his own in the 62nd minute.
Saint Mary’s (2-3-1, 0-2 MIAC) was unable to trouble Keenan Smith (Sr./Madison, Wis./West), forcing him to make just two saves en route to Smith’s ninth career clean sheet.
Carleton has a quick turnaround, returning to play on Sunday, Sept. 21 to square off against non-conference opponents Luther College as part of a home doubleheader with the women’s program. The women will kickoff at 1 p.m., with the men following at 3 p.m. Live stats and video coverage of both matches will be available through Knights Online.
